Why I Like Memphis
One of my favorite stops is "Live at Nine" on WREG-TV in Memphis. Their crew is one of the nicest I've run across. Here's meteorologist Jim Jaggers taking on a bet to finish a FOUR POUND burger during the show. He didn't make it. Or even get close. Which is good, because Jim's a great guy and I'd hate to think about him defribillating right on TV. Click on the picture to see the full magnitude of this beast (the burger, not Jim).
Here I am hitting the punch-line on my classic, "Why I got out of the music business" story. Marybeth Conley is one of the class acts of local TV. It's interesting how books mark off time: Last time I was there Marybeth was pregnant with her third child - now her new daughter is more than a year old. The show is live from 9 Peabody Place, in downtown Memphis - right next to the famed Peabody Hotel. Many props to Greg Ellis, who took these pics and drove me around in his magnificent, 12-cylinder Phaeton.
